My Watercolor Journey
In 2021, I began painting in watercolor. I watched YouTube videos, followed inspiring artists, studied with excellent instructors, and joined a wonderful group of artists who meet weekly. It has been a fun and rewarding experience, although sharing my work with others was a little intimidating at first.
In 2022, I joined the Iowa Watercolor Society (IWS) to connect with other watercolor artists and continue learning. That year, I entered two paintings in the IWS Annual Members Exhibition. Both were accepted into the traveling show: Feed the Bees and My Old Friend Grant. These were the first paintings I ever entered into an IWS exhibition.
In 2023, The Pollinators Plot and Midnight Chickadees were accepted into the IWS exhibition. The Pollinators Plot received an Honorable Mention award, and Midnight Chickadees was selected for the 2023–2024 IWS Traveling Show.
In 2024, I joined The Iowa Artists. In their regional exhibition, I received the People's Choice Award for Nesting in the Frangipani and an Honorable Mention for Goldfinches on Thistle.
That same year, Nesting in the Frangipani and The Old She Shed were accepted into the IWS exhibition. Nesting in the Frangipani earned another Honorable Mention award. In 2025, The Old She Shed received Second Place in The Iowa Artists Regional Show.
My newest paintings accepted into the 2025 IWS Exhibition are Around the Water Tank and For Wrent.
This is just the beginning of my watercolor journey, and it has already been an exciting and rewarding adventure. I look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and share my work with others.
Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you find a painting that speaks to you.
